Vexillum nakama
Vexillum nakama is a small sea snail in the ribbed miters family (Costellariidae). The shell grows to about 7 mm in length and 3 mm in diameter. It is a tiny, dark shell with a pale band near the posterior edge of the body whorl. The shell has about six whorls; the initial protoconch is smooth and somewhat swollen. The surface shows around 20 fine axial ribs with faint spiral lines between them. The siphonal canal has two or three threads. The aperture is narrow, the outer lip is sharp, and the columella has three dark folds.
Distribution: This species occurs off Japan.
