Joseph W. Torrey (politician)
Joseph W. Torrey (politician) was a Michigan lawyer and politician in the early 1800s. Born in Connecticut, he moved to the Michigan Territory. He served as recorder of Detroit in 1829 and as probate judge from 1829 to 1833. A Jacksonian, he supported President Andrew Jackson. Torrey represented the 1st district on the Michigan Territorial Council from May 1, 1832 to April 23, 1833. In 1844, he moved back to Connecticut and died there the same year.
