Iranians in Qatar
Iranians in Qatar, often called Qatari Persians, are people of Iranian origin living in Qatar. They total about 30,000, making up a noticeable part of the Iranian diaspora in the region. Most live in Doha. They speak Persian, including the Lari language, and many also use Persian in daily life. Their religion includes both Sunni Islam and Shi’a Islam.
History in Qatar: In 1908, Qatar’s population was around 27,000, and there were 425 Iranian boat builders. By 1930, the Iranian community had grown to about 5,000 people, roughly 20% of Qatar’s population at the time.
