The H.H. Everist House is a historic home in Sioux City, Iowa. It was designed in the Prairie School style by William L. Steele for Hubert H. Everist, who founded L.G. Everist Inc. and Western Contracting Corporation. Built by M.N. Hegg from 1916 to 1917, the house had a drive-in garage and landscaping completed in 1920. The building sits on an irregular three-level plan and emphasizes wide, horizontal lines with bands of windows. Exterior details include terra cotta belt courses, chimneys, parapets, and trim, and the roof features broad, overhanging hip sections. The Everist House is often regarded as Steele’s finest residential example of the Prairie School style. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 29, 1983 (NRHP reference number 83000413). Location: 37 McDonald Dr., Sioux City, Iowa. Area: less than one acre.
