Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying
The Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying is a government department in India that handles policies and programs for fishing, livestock farming, and dairy farming. It was created on May 31, 2019, as part of the Second Modi ministry. Before it became an independent ministry, these responsibilities were part of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare.
Name change: The department was originally formed as the Ministry of Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Dairying in 2019 and was renamed to its current title in 2021.
Leadership: The ministry is led by the Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying. The first minister was Giriraj Singh (2019–2021). The current minister, since June 2024, is Lalan Singh. The ministers of state are S. P. Singh Baghel and George Kurian.
