Mark Dawson (footballer)
Mark Dawson (born 22 August 1953) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with North Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1970s.
Dawson was recruited to North Melbourne from St Dominic’s. He was 177 cm tall and weighed 70 kg, playing as a utility player.
North Melbourne career (1972–1978)
Dawson played 59 games and kicked 58 goals for North Melbourne. His best year came in 1976, when he kicked 26 goals and played as a rover in the Grand Final, which North Melbourne lost to Hawthorn. He was part of the winning 1978 Preliminary Final team but was dropped for the Grand Final and did not play VFL football again.
Move to Port Adelaide (SANFL)
After turning down an offer from Woodville in the SANFL, Dawson was traded by North Melbourne to Port Adelaide in 1979 in exchange for Russell Ebert.
Port Adelaide playing career
Dawson played 19 games and kicked 25 goals for Port Adelaide in 1979.

Across his VFL and SANFL career, Dawson played 78 games and kicked 83 goals.
