Loren Ross, nicknamed “The Boss,” was an American professional boxer from Nashville, Tennessee. He was born on September 18, 1964, and passed away on July 31, 2013.

Amateur career
Ross dominated the USA Amateur Light Heavyweight division, winning national championships in 1984, 1985, and 1986. He also competed at the World Amateur Championships in 1986, where he defeated Markus Bott, Nurmagomed Shanavazov, and Deyan Kirilov, but lost in the final to Pablo Romero, earning a silver medal.

Professional career
Ross turned professional and compiled a 17–2–1 record with 12 knockouts. He started his pro career strong, winning his first 15 bouts, including 10 knockouts. He captured the WBA North American Cruiserweight title along the way. His two losses came against Tony Willis and Bert Cooper, both by knockout, and he had one no-contest against Dave Slaughter. Ross’s career ended after a heart condition led to his retirement; he was hospitalized following the loss to Cooper in 1991. In total, he fought 20 professional bouts, lasting 79 rounds, with about a 60% knockout rate.
