Flávio Lopes
Flávio Antônio Lopes Lourenço (born 30 July 1965), known as Flávio Lopes, is a Brazilian former footballer and manager. He played as a midfielder.
Player career
- Born in Ervália, Minas Gerais, Flávio Lopes was discovered by Valeriodoce de Itabira.
- He rose to prominence with América Mineiro, helping the club win the 1993 Campeonato Mineiro.
- He also played for América-SP and Londrina, among other clubs, before retiring.
Managerial career
- Lopes started coaching at América Mineiro and became a league-winning manager by taking the Copa Sul-Minas in 2000.
- Over the years he managed many Brazilian clubs, including Athletico Paranaense, Gama, ABC, Ipatinga, and América Mineiro.
- He won the Taça Minas Gerais with ABC in 2005 and later had another stint with América Mineiro.
- From 2012 to 2016, he was the football coordinator at América Mineiro, contributing to the club’s 2016 Campeonato Mineiro title under coach Givanildo Oliveira.
- He also coached numerous other teams, such as Goytacaz, Nacional de Muriaé, União Luziense, and others.
- In 2024, due to tiredness and time with his family, Lopes retired from coaching to focus on sports consultancy.
