Dead Before Dying is a mystery novel by South African writer Deon Meyer. It first appeared in Afrikaans in 1996 under the title Feniks and was translated into English by Madeleine van Biljon in 1999. The book is set in Cape Town and falls within the crime/mystery genre. It has been adapted into a TV series called Cape Town.
