The Talent (El talento) is a 2025 Spanish drama film directed by Polo Menárguez, who co-wrote the screenplay with Fernando León de Aranoa. It’s based on the 1924 novella Fräulein Else by Arthur Schnitzler and stars Ester Expósito and Pedro Casablanc.

Plot
Elsa, a cellist, attends her friend Idoia’s exclusive party. After receiving a call from her mother, she must make a difficult choice about what to do next.

Production and release
The film is produced by Reposado PC and The Mediapro Studio, with participation from RTVE, Movistar Plus+, and 3Cat. Filming began in September 2024 in Biscay and Leioa, in the Basque Country. International sales are handled by Film Factory, with Spain’s theatrical release planned by Trippictures on September 5, 2025. Running time is 103 minutes; language is Spanish; country of origin is Spain.

Accolades
Carla F. Benedicto is nominated for Best Original Score at the 40th Goya Awards (2026) for The Talent (pending final results).
