What Alice Forgot is a 2009 novel by Australian author Liane Moriarty. It follows a 39-year-old mother of three who loses her memory of the last ten years after a fall. When she wakes, she believes she is 29, happily married and pregnant for the first time. She soon discovers that she is not who she thinks she is: she is actually 39, on the verge of divorce, and estranged from her husband, her best friend, and her sister. As she tries to relearn her life, she must figure out what happened in the past decade and why she forgot it. The book is Moriarty’s third novel. It received mostly positive reviews; Publishers Weekly called it moving, well-paced and thoroughly pleasurable. Film rights were bought by TriStar in 2014, and in 2017 reports said director David Frankel was set to direct.
