Spoon River Valley High School
Spoon River Valley High School (SRVHS) is a small public high school for grades 9–12 located at 35265 North IL Route 97, east of London Mills, Illinois. It’s part of Spoon River Valley Community Unit School District 4, which also has a junior high and elementary school and serves Ellisville, Fairview, London Mills, Maquon, and Rapatee. The campus sits about 15 miles northwest of Canton and 20 miles southeast of Galesburg in a rural area.
SRVHS has about 60 students and around 9 full‑time teachers, giving a small student‑to‑teacher ratio. The school colors are red and black, and the mascot is the Vikings. For most sports, SRVHS teams partner with nearby Cuba High School and compete as the North Fulton Wildcats, also in red and black.
The school competes in the Prairieland Conference and the Inter County Athletic Conference, within the Illinois High School Association. The football team reached the state semifinals in 2007 as part of the North Fulton program.
Spoon River Valley’s history comes from Ellisville High, Fairview High, London Mills High, and Maquon High. The four schools consolidated in 1948–1949, and the current centralized campus opened in 1973 east of London Mills.
