Selling Out (film)
Selling Out is a 1972 Canadian short documentary film directed by Tadeusz Jaworski, written by Jaworski and Jack Winter, and produced by Jaworski. The 32‑minute English‑language film, sponsored by Humber College, follows a Prince Edward Island farmer who must sell his family’s farm because his children have moved away. It raises the question of whether the government should prevent Canadian farms from being sold to non‑Canadians.
The film features Vernon Macgoughan, Bob Hogg, Frank McNutt, and Pamela Winter, with narration by Jon Granik. Cinematography by Bruce Allen and Stanley Lipinski, editing by Martin Pepler, and music by Peter Cornell. It was distributed by Humber College and produced by Unit Productions. Selling Out was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Documentary (Short Subject) at the 45th Academy Awards in 1973 and won Best Documentary at the 24th Canadian Film Awards.
