Robert McKim (actor)
Robert McKim (1877 – June 4, 1927) was an American actor in silent films and vaudeville. He appeared in nearly 100 films between 1915 and 1927. He played the main villain opposite Douglas Fairbanks in The Mark of Zorro (1920).
McKim was born in San Jacinto, California, and studied in San Francisco. He started in stock theater companies in California before moving to films with the Ince and Triangle studios. He co-starred with Lon Chaney in the 1923 silent All The Brothers Were Valiant. One of his last roles was as a villain in the unfinished silent The Mysterious Island (based on Jules Verne); it was shot in 1927 but released in 1929 with him uncredited.
After a nervous breakdown, he left films and returned to vaudeville. McKim married actress Dorcas Matthews in 1920, and they had two sons. He died on June 4, 1927, in a Los Angeles hospital, about 50 years old, three days after suffering a partial stroke.
