Regius Professor of Medicine and Therapeutics
The Regius Chair of Medicine and Therapeutics at the University of Glasgow is its oldest chair. It was created in 1989 by merging two historic Regius chairs: the Practice of Medicine (founded 1637; revived 1712; endowed by Queen Anne in 1713) and Materia Medica (founded 1831, from a 1766 lectureship). The chair has had two professors: John Reid, who had been Regius Professor of Materia Medica, and since 2010 Anna Felicja Dominiczak, the first woman to hold the post.
