The New Zealand Service Rifle Association (NZSRA) is New Zealand’s national body for service rifle competition. It promotes service rifle shooting, writes the rules for competitions, runs the annual national championships, and supports owning service rifles.

Shooting military rifles at targets has a long history in New Zealand. Some shooters wanted more action than traditional NRA-style matches offered, so service rifle shooting began. In 1997, the International Military Arms Society Inc (based in Auckland) and the Wellington Service Rifle Association joined to form the NZSRA Inc. They created a common set of rules and matches called the Service Match Code, now in its fourth edition.

Today, the main clubs running exclusive Service Rifle matches are the Wellington Service Rifle Association (WSRA) and the Auckland Service Rifle Association (ASRA). Other clubs—BOPSRA, Waikato Rifle, Bruce Rifle Club, and a Canterbury group—also run service rifle matches as part of their programs.

The Service Match Code (SMC v4.0) sets the rules for service rifle competition. NZSRA is a member of the Council of Licensed Firearms Owners (COLFO).
