Madhusudan Law University, formerly Madhusudan Law College, is the oldest law education institution in Odisha and is located in Cuttack. It became a university on 28 April 2021 and now oversees law education across Odisha (except for its constituent law colleges).
Programs offered:
- 3-year LL.B. (Hons.)
- 5-year integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.)
- 2-year LL.M.
All programs are approved by the Bar Council of India.
History:
- Legal education began in 1869 at Ravenshaw Collegiate School in Cuttack, which later became Ravenshaw College.
- The law course at that time was under the University of Calcutta.
- After Utkal University was established in 1943, Madhusudan Law College was also established that year.
- The college is named after Madhusudan Das, a national leader and politician.
