Katy Times
The Katy Times is a weekly local newspaper serving Katy, Texas and nearby areas. It is owned by Hartman Newspapers LP and published by Susan Rovegno. The paper started in 1913 and is based at 5319 E. Fifth Street in Katy. Its circulation was about 1,525 copies in 2023, and its website is katytimes.com.
History in brief:
- 1913: Founded as The Brookshire Times by John C. Adams, mainly covering Brookshire news.
- 1914: Bought by Adolph Baylis Anderson and his wife Pat Anderson.
- 1934–1949: After Pat’s death, Mary Anne Ernstes joined, became publisher in 1944, and bought the paper in 1949.
- Late 1950s: The paper moved to Katy.
- 1973: Sold to Tri-County Newspapers and renamed The Times.
- 1984: Adopted the current name, Katy Times.

- 2019: Reported to print about 5,000 copies weekly on Thursdays.
- July 2019: Fenice Community Media agreed to purchase the Katy Times from Hartman Newspapers LP, with Karen Lopez named as publisher.

Awards:

- It also won several awards from the Texas Gulf Coast Press Association in 2018, such as second for News Writing, second for Feature Writing, third for Sports Coverage, and honorable mentions for Sports Photos and General Excellence.
