Kadal Pura
Kadal Pura (Sea Pigeon) is a Tamil historical novel by Sandilyan, first published in 1967. Set in the ancient Chola dynasty, the story is named after a fictional ship built by the Chola commander Karunakara Tondaiman, who later becomes King Tondaiman.
The novel follows the Chola kingdom as it invades Srivijaya (now Malaysia and Singapore) and Kalinga (now Odisha). It is historical fiction, with some anachronisms, such as Aguda being born in 1068 but appearing as a 25-year-old in the story. The same characters reappear in Dr L. Kailasam’s Rajali, where they are shown in old age.
