Hollywood Potato Chip
Hollywood Potato Chip is the tenth studio album by The Vandals, released June 29, 2004, on Kung Fu Records. It was recorded in 2003–2004 at SoundCastle Studios in Silverlake, California, and Formula One Studios in Fullerton, California. The music blends pop punk, punk rock, skate punk, melodic hardcore, and comedy rock, and the album runs 33 minutes and 24 seconds. Warren Fitzgerald produced the record.
The title is a crude joke about Hollywood’s casting couch. The original cover art imitated Variety magazine’s logo, prompting Variety to issue a cease‑and‑desist order and prompting a redesigned cover for all later pressings. In 2010–2012, Variety pursued further legal action over images of the original cover found online. The Vandals argued they had stopped using the parody logo and that third parties were posting the images; they planned a benefit show to help cover legal costs.
In 2011 the case was moved from Delaware to California, and Variety dropped the lawsuit in February 2012. All tracks are written by Warren Fitzgerald, except where noted.
