Harrison Christian
Harrison Christian (born 14 December 1990) is a New Zealand journalist and nonfiction writer. He has published four books: Men Without Country (2021), Should We Fall to Ruin (2022), Terra Nova (2024), and Darwin on the Beagle (2025). Much of his work focuses on the South Pacific. He is a direct descendant of Fletcher Christian, the leader of the Bounty mutiny.
His books:
- Men Without Country (2021) tells the 1789 mutiny on HMS Bounty and questions the way Lt. William Bligh is often portrayed. It was a bestseller in New Zealand.
- Should We Fall to Ruin (2022) looks at the 1942 Japanese invasion of Rabaul, New Guinea from an Anzac perspective and received praise from The Sydney Morning Herald and The Saturday Paper.
- Terra Nova (2024) covers Captain Robert Falcon Scott’s South Pole expedition, exploring ambition and rivalry.
- Darwin on the Beagle (2025) follows Charles Darwin’s voyage around the world and his relationship with Beagle captain Robert FitzRoy.
All four books are published by Ultimo Press.
