Frank W. Mixter
Frank W. Mixter (December 30, 1873 – May 22, 1947) was a Republican who served in the California State Assembly (55th district) from 1925 to 1931 and in the California State Senate (32nd district) from 1931 to 1947.
Born in Pekin, Illinois, his family moved around before he settled in Visalia, California at age 14 to work as a druggist. He served in the U.S. Army during the Spanish-American War and rose to first sergeant in Company E, Visalia. In 1899 he won second prize at a National Guard sharpshooting competition.
In 1903 he and a partner opened a drug store in San Francisco, then moved back to Visalia to work with his brother. The brothers opened a family drugstore in Exeter, California, which operated from 1905 until 2009. Mixter helped fund a bill in 1932 to build the Shasta Dam. He died in San Francisco while visiting an eye doctor.
He married Olive Pogue on June 23, 1897, and they had six children.
