Cao Xuanxuan's Love Journey is a Chinese period detective drama that premiered on Tencent Video on January 13, 2025. It is directed by Liu Xing with Cao Junlang and Li Shituo as co-directors, written by Li Min and Zhang Zixuan, and stars Zhu Xudan, Zhai Xiaowen, Guo Cheng, and Xu Muchan, with Ying Haoming and Wei Wei in special guest roles.
The story follows Zhou Na, a modern mystery novelist who, while reading the Yan City Diary, suddenly loses consciousness and wakes up in ancient Yan City. She becomes the prospective wife of County Magistrate Guo Zijie. Together, they solve a series of cases. As their feelings grow, a deadly life-and-death conspiracy unfolds. The series mixes fantasy, time travel, mystery, detective work, light humor, and romance.
The show’s original soundtrack released in January 2025. Filming began September 10, 2022 at Hengdian World Studios and wrapped October 26, 2022. It later received a broadcasting license in late 2024. Viewers have praised the series for its female-led, time-travel mystery premise and its multi-layered romance, which adds emotional depth alongside the detective plots.
