Akropotamos, Thessaloniki
Akropotamos is a small village in central Macedonia, Greece. It is in the Chalkidona municipality, the Koufalia municipal unit, and the Thessaloniki regional unit, and it is part of the Prochoma community. The village sits about 40 meters above sea level and had 453 residents in 2021. Most people come from Greek Pontic refugee backgrounds who settled here after the Greco‑Turkish War (1919–1922) and the 1923 Greece–Turkey population exchange, formalized by the Treaty of Lausanne.
Before 2011, Akropotamos belonged to Koufalia municipality; after the Kallikratis reform it became part of Chalkidona and is included in the Prochoma community.
