At the 1999 ATP Tour World Championships doubles event, Sébastien Lareau and Alex O'Brien won the title, defeating Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes 6–3, 6–2, 6–2 in the final. The eight-team draw included the defending champions Jacco Eltingh and Paul Haarhuis, who did not team up this year; Eltingh had retired in 1998, and Haarhuis, paired with Jared Palmer, were eliminated in the round-robin stage.
